Tropical Storm Bertha Brings Heavy Rain and Strong Winds to Texas, Louisiana and Veracruz

Tropical Storm Bertha made a second landfall near the Texas‑Louisiana border on Thursday, delivering heavy rainfall, gusty winds and localized flooding across the Gulf Coast. Forecasters warned of several inches of rain that could trigger flash floods, especially in low‑lying neighborhoods, while strong gusts caused power outages, knocked down tree limbs and disrupted travel.

After moving inland, the system weakened to a tropical depression as it approached the Galveston area in Texas. Meanwhile, the Mexican state of Veracruz continued to experience hot, humid conditions with thunderstorms and rain showers in its mountainous regions, though authorities said the storm posed no direct threat to the state.

Weather agencies in both countries continued to monitor the storm's remnants, urging residents to stay alert to rainfall forecasts and potential flooding hazards.
