Tropical Storm Fay passes southwest of the Azores

Tropical Storm Fay is moving through the North Atlantic, passing southwest of the Azores. While the storm has intensified with sustained winds reaching approximately 110 km/h (65 mph), it is not currently expected to pose a direct threat to land.

Forecasts indicate the storm's path will keep its center away from the Portuguese archipelago. Although the IPMA previously noted that outer effects could bring rain and thunderstorms to the islands of Flores and Corvo, no coastal warnings or watches have been issued for the Azores. Mainland Portugal is also not expected to be affected.

The system, which was initially classified as Tropical Depression Six, is forecast to weaken gradually and may dissipate by the end of the week.
