Tropical Storm Iselle forms in the Pacific Ocean

Tropical Storm Iselle has officially formed in the Pacific Ocean, moving west-northwest at approximately 19 kilometers per hour. The storm is currently located several hundred kilometers southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur. While its trajectory is moving it away from the Mexican coast, its cloud bands are expected to bring heavy rains, strong winds, and high surf to the western regions of Mexico.

Authorities have issued preventive warnings for Michoacán, Colima, Jalisco, and Baja California Sur, noting risks of flooding, rising river levels, and potential landslides in mountainous areas. Meteorologists suggest Iselle could intensify into a hurricane due to high sea surface temperatures.

In addition to Iselle, weather agencies are monitoring two other areas of low pressure south of Baja California Sur. One system has a 50% chance of development within the next week, while another shows an 80% probability of cyclonic development over the next seven days.
