Venezuela weather emergency: Tropical wave 41 causes deaths and widespread damage

Severe weather caused by tropical wave 41 has triggered widespread damage across several regions of Venezuela, including Anzoátegui, Monagas, Lara, and the capital, Caracas.

In Anzoátegui and Monagas, heavy rains and hurricane-force winds led to fallen trees, collapsed roofs, and power outages. In Maturín, Monagas, authorities reported 28 fallen trees and damage to 14 homes, while the Monumental Stadium also sustained roof damage. In El Tigre, Anzoátegui, residents faced structural damage to homes and fallen utility poles.

In Caracas, Mayor Carmen Meléndez reported five deaths and 173 weather-related incidents over a two-week period. These incidents include 45 flooded roads, 31 fallen trees, and 29 landslides. The Mayor attributed some of the severity to clogged drainage systems caused by solid waste and called for increased public awareness regarding waste management.

In Lara state, the city of Carora experienced intense winds and sudden precipitation, causing tension among residents and affecting local production due to electrical failures and poor drainage maintenance.
