Tropical Wave 48 triggers heavy rain and storms in Venezuela
Tropical Wave 48 is moving across Venezuela, bringing heavy rainfall and electrical discharges to various regions. The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh) reported that the wave was positioned over the states of Zulia and Lara as of Thursday night.
Significant precipitation and electrical activity have been noted in Apure, Barinas, Portuguesa, the Andes region, Lara, and eastern Zulia. In Maracaibo, Zulia state, strong winds caused heavy waves at the Vereda del Lago park, prompting responses from local security agencies, Civil Protection, and firefighters.
Inameh has issued further alerts for several other areas, including Guayana Esequiba, Sucre, Monagas, Bolívar, Amazonas, Miranda, the Capital District, La Guaira, Carabobo, Yaracuy, and parts of the central plains. The tropical wave season in Venezuela typically runs from May 30 to November 30.
