TROVA offers cost‑effective electric truck repowering in Belgium

Belgian company TROVA (Transport Repowered for Optimized Value & Autonomy) in Lommel provides a circular alternative to new battery‑electric trucks by converting existing diesel freight trucks to fully electric vehicles. The repowering process removes the diesel engine, fuel tanks and conventional drivetrain and installs an electric motor, transmission and modular battery packs while keeping the chassis, axles and cabin. All components are sourced from EU‑certified suppliers and the converted trucks are homologated after extensive testing.

TROVA estimates that each repowered truck saves about six tonnes of material and roughly 15 tonnes of CO₂ compared with building a new truck. Energy consumption drops from about 3 kWh per kilometre for a diesel truck to 1.2 kWh per kilometre for the electric conversion, cutting operational costs to around €38 000 per 85 000 km, versus €78 000 for a comparable diesel model. The lower running costs stem from reduced energy, maintenance and toll fees. Together with partner MegaDepot, TROVA can also provide charging infrastructure and energy‑management services, further improving total‑cost‑of‑ownership and supporting a transition to emission‑free logistics.
