Troy awarded $11.1M for lead pipe replacement

The City of Troy has been awarded $11.1 million in Lead Infrastructure Forgiveness and Transformation (LIFT) funding to continue replacing lead service lines. This funding is part of a larger $130 million state grant initiative announced by Governor Kathy Hochul to help New York communities identify and replace lead pipes to protect public health.

Mayor Carmella Mantello stated that replacing every lead service line in Troy is a top priority for her administration. The city plans to coordinate pipe replacement with road paving projects to improve efficiency. The grants are designed to safeguard drinking water and protect residents from lead exposure without placing a heavy financial burden on local taxpayers.
