Troy Jackson leads Susan Collins in Maine Senate poll

Democratic nominee Troy Jackson, a former logger and state legislator, is contesting the U.S. Senate seat in Maine against incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins. Jackson entered the race as a last-minute replacement for Graham Platner, who withdrew following sexual assault allegations.

Recent polling released by the Senate Majority PAC shows Jackson holding a four-point lead over Collins, with a 49% to 45% matchup among likely voters. The poll indicated that Collins holds a 46% approval rating, while 52% of respondents disapprove of her performance. Some pollsters noted that Collins' numbers are currently lower than those recorded during her 2020 reelection campaign.

Jackson’s campaign emphasizes his roots in Aroostook County and his background in the logging industry to appeal to the working class. While Jackson has positioned himself as an opponent of billionaires, his campaign is receiving significant financial backing from the billionaire-funded Senate Majority PAC, which has allocated millions toward television advertising for his candidacy.
