Troy Parrott scores winner on Champions League debut for Real Betis

Troy Parrott scored the decisive goal for Real Betis in a 3-2 victory over Lille, marking a successful debut in the Champions League league phase. The win represents a significant milestone for the Seville-based club, which is making its first appearance in the tournament's current format.

Lille initially led through Ayase Ueda and later extended their advantage via Alexsandro. However, Real Betis mounted a comeback fueled by two goals from Marc Bartra. Parrott secured the win in the 53rd minute with a precise left-footed strike. The match was further complicated when Lille's Ethan Mbappé received a red card for an elbow to an opponent, leaving the French side with ten players for the remainder of the contest.

This performance follows Parrott's recent success in La Liga, where he scored a winning goal against Real Madrid just four days prior. Having joined Betis from AZ Alkmaar for a fee reported to be around €20 million, the 24-year-old Irish international has quickly become a key figure in Manuel Pellegrini's squad.
