Troy Parrott joins Real Betis from AZ Alkmaar for €20 million
Real Betis has officially completed the signing of Irish striker Troy Parrott from AZ Alkmaar. The transfer is valued at approximately €20 million, consisting of a €16 million fixed fee and €4 million in performance-related variables.
The 24-year-old Dubliner has signed a five-year contract that will keep him at the Spanish club until 2031. Parrott arrives in Seville following a highly successful period in the Netherlands, where he recorded significant goal-scoring numbers and helped AZ Alkmaar secure the Dutch Cup and Supercup.
Parrott, who previously developed in the Tottenham Hotspur academy, was a key target for manager Manuel Pellegrini as Betis prepares for Champions League football. The move follows interest from several other European clubs, including West Ham United. Parrott has expressed gratitude to the AZ Alkmaar supporters, describing his time in the Eredivisie as a period that helped get his career back on track.
