Troye Sivan releases medieval-themed single ‘Party’

Australian pop star Troye Sivan has released his new single, ‘Party’, which features a medieval-themed music video filmed at a castle in Berkeley, England. Directed by Gordon von Steiner, the video depicts a decadent celebration of queer pleasure and desire.

The track samples Madonna’s 2000 song ‘Music’ and includes collaborations with various artists, including Sivan’s brother, Tyde Levi. The music video features a voiceover by English actor Sir Ian McKellen, marking a reunion for Sivan and McKellen, who first worked together in 2010 during a production of ‘Waiting for Godot’.

Sivan noted that the song was partly inspired by the ‘bush doof’ experiences of his youth in Melbourne. The release serves as the second preview of his upcoming album, ‘She’s the Best’.
