Três Lagoas announces social assistance programs for residents
The municipality of Três Lagoas, Brazil, is highlighting two distinct social assistance initiatives. Through the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance, the “Minha Primeira Viagem” project, also known as the Cartão Cegonha program, provides free and secure transportation for mothers and newborns returning home from the maternity ward.
The program is designed for pregnant women in situations of social vulnerability who are part of the municipal socio-assistance network. To qualify, residents must have an active Cadastro Único, reside in Três Lagoas, undergo prenatal care, and possess a Cartão Cegonha issued by their local CRAS. The service includes a vehicle equipped with a baby seat to ensure safety.
Additionally, the city is managing applications for 2027 IPTU tax exemptions. The benefit is available to low-income families, retirees, pensioners, and individuals with serious illnesses or cancer. Deadlines for most applicants end on December 18, 2026, while those with serious illnesses have until March 31, 2027. Specific criteria regarding property size, income limits, and residency status apply to each category under municipal law.
