Três Lagoas municipal policy and social initiatives

In Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul, local government actions have focused on social welfare and fiscal management. City Council President Tonhão has advocated for increased investment in social assistance, specifically proposing a new unit of the Center for Strengthening Bonds to address the needs of an aging population regarding health, leisure, and dignity.

Complementing these social efforts, the municipality introduced fiscal programs to assist residents and businesses. The ‘Facilita ISS Três Lagoas’ program offers significant discounts on interest and late fees for the regularization of Service Tax debts incurred up to July 31, 2026. For lump-sum payments, the city offers a 100% discount on interest and late fees, while installment plans provide a 70% discount. The deadline to participate is December 15, 2026.

Furthermore, the city established criteria for 2027 Property Tax (IPTU) exemptions. These target low-income homeowners with single residences up to 80m² (or 90m² for retirees), as well as individuals managing serious illnesses such as Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, or cancer. Most applications must be submitted by December 18, 2026, though those with serious illnesses have until March 31, 2027, and cancer patients may apply throughout the year.

In addition to fiscal and elderly welfare initiatives, the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance is highlighting the ‘Minha Primeira Viagem’ project, also known as the Cartão Cegonha program. This initiative provides free, secure transportation for vulnerable pregnant women and newborns returning from maternity wards, utilizing vehicles equipped with baby seats.
