Truck brake failure kills driver on Erzurum highway, two injured

A truck traveling down the Erzurum‑Artvin highway near the Uzundere district experienced a brake failure. The driver, an Iranian national, abandoned the vehicle by jumping from the moving truck, but later died from his injuries. The out‑of‑control truck forced a car on the opposite lane to swerve, causing the car to roll and strike a barrier before being thrown onto rocky terrain. Two occupants of the car were injured and were taken to Uzundere State Hospital for treatment.

Jandarma and emergency health crews responded to the scene, secured the area and launched a wide‑scale investigation into the technical malfunction that caused the brake failure.
