Truck crash kills driver and shuts Italy's A7 highway for 14 hours

A heavy truck overturned at kilometre 122 on the A7 motorway between Busalla and Bolzaneto in Liguria, Italy. The 49‑year‑old driver, a Brazilian national, died at the scene.

The accident forced the closure of the A7 for roughly fourteen hours, causing long queues and diversions. Emergency responders—including local Red Cross volunteers, 118 ambulance crews and a helicopter rescue unit—worked through the night to remove the vehicle, clear the road and secure the site. Bottled water was distributed to motorists stranded during the shutdown.

The highway was fully reopened to traffic at 05:10 on Saturday, restoring normal flow in both directions.
