US administration obligates $307M in military aid to Ukraine

The Trump administration has begun implementing a $400 million military aid package for Ukraine through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). As of this week, $307 million has been legally obligated, with the remaining $93 million expected to be secured before the U.S. fiscal year ends on September 30.

While the package includes offensive weapons and spare parts for armored vehicles, sources indicate it does not include the Patriot interceptor missiles that Kyiv has urgently requested to defend against Russian ballistic missile attacks. The first deliveries of equipment began in September, and the full rollout of the package is expected to continue through October 2029.

The move follows months of delays that drew criticism from both Democrats and some Republicans in Congress. The administration's action aims to prevent the funds from expiring at the end of the fiscal year.
