Trump Administration Considers Expanding Military Operations Against Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly weighing a broader campaign of strikes against Iran. U.S. officials have told Israel they intend to deploy additional tanker aircraft to refuel fighter jets, adding to the roughly 60 aerial‑refueling planes already stationed at Ben Gurion and Ramon airports. Israeli transport minister Miriam Regev has objected, saying the extra planes hinder civilian airport traffic during the peak tourist season, while the Israeli defense ministry argues the bases are the safest for the aircraft.

The consideration follows a series of U.S. attacks launched in July in response to Iranian assaults on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran has replied with strikes on U.S. facilities in the Middle East and both sides accuse one another of violating a cease‑fire agreement brokered on 18 June by Pakistan. Trump has publicly declared that the cease‑fire is no longer in effect.

Separately, Britain has formally designated the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps as a “national security threat,” extending new criminal penalties to anyone providing support to the group. The move is part of a broader UK effort to curb activities it deems hostile to British interests.
