Trump administration imposes new tariffs on Brazil

Brian Winter, editor‑in‑chief of Americas Quarterly and vice‑president of the Americas Society/Council of the Americas, explained to CNN Brazil’s William Waack why the Trump administration introduced additional tariffs on Brazil. Winter highlighted that the tariff decision combines a technical bureaucracy focused on rules with a political element driven by top‑level officials, including former Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who was involved in finalizing the numbers.
