Trump Airport Rebrand Stalls Over Funding Dispute in Florida

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation in March to rename Palm Beach International Airport after former President Donald Trump. The Palm Beach County Commission approved the trademark deal with the Trump Organization by a 4‑3 vote, and highway signs with the new "President Donald J. Trump International Airport" name were installed.

The state budget allocated $2.75 million of the estimated $5.5 million required for the full signage overhaul, leaving a $2.75 million shortfall. County officials, including administrator Joseph Abruzzo, refused to cover the remaining cost, arguing that taxpayers should not be burdened. Abruzzo said the county could fund only the baseline changes and needed additional state money for extensive signage. As a result, digital displays reflect the new name, but many physical signs inside terminals still show the old Palm Beach International designation. The first aircraft landed under the new name on July 9, 2026, but the rebranding remains incomplete due to the funding dispute.
