Donald Trump postpones US‑Israel strike on Iran as talks set for Aug 3 FAST-MOVING
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States and Israel have suspended a planned large‑scale attack on Iran. The pause is tied to a rapid diplomatic agreement that would end the regional war, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resolve Iran’s nuclear programme. Trump said the attack would have been the biggest since World War II.
He said the decision follows requests from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Iran to delay the strike. Negotiations with Iran are scheduled to begin on Monday afternoon, 3 August 2026, via intermediaries. The announcement triggered a drop of more than 4 % in international oil prices. The U.S. military has also redirected 38 commercial vessels as part of a renewed naval blockade of Iranian ports. Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen warned that Israel will act if Iran resumes its nuclear or missile programmes.
