Trump meets Zelensky at G7 summit in Evian, discusses Russia‑Ukraine peace options

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed a "very good" meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Evian‑les‑Bains during the G7 summit, adding that a further discussion was scheduled later the same day. The brief encounter also included French President Emmanuel Macron. Zelensky said the talks covered the possibility of Ukraine producing licensed anti‑ballistic missile systems and noted that G7 partners agreed on additional air‑defence support. He also mentioned considering a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on U.S. soil, or a meeting on the sidelines of the G7. Trump warned that Russia must reach an agreement with Ukraine, citing heavy losses on both sides. Peace talks mediated by the United States have been stalled since February after a U.S. strike on Iran.
