Trump Nears Decision on Massive US Attack Against Iran

President Donald Trump said he is "close to making a decision" on ordering a "massive attack" on Iran that would be larger than any previous U.S. strikes. He told Axios the United States is "all set" and that Israel would join a new round of strikes within minutes if asked, although the president emphasized that U.S. forces could act without additional allies.

The remarks came amid an expanding regional conflict. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported overnight drone strikes on U.S. assets in Kuwait and Jordan, including a telecom tower in Kuwait and damage to the Abdali border crossing. Tehran warned of "an eye for an eye" retaliation for U.S. attacks on Iranian infrastructure. Meanwhile, Yemen’s Iran‑backed Houthi rebels attacked two Saudi tankers in the Red Sea, prompting a formal blockade of Saudi ports and pushing Brent crude above $100 a barrel for the first time since May.

The United Nations Security Council convened to discuss the escalating crisis, with Secretary‑General Antonio Guterres describing the situation as “teetering on the edge of the unimaginable,” but the council took no concrete action.
