Trump predicts Iran war will end after U.S. midterm elections

President Donald Trump has predicted that the ongoing conflict with Iran will conclude immediately following the U.S. midterm elections on November 3, 2026. Speaking at a Republican convention in Dallas, Trump claimed that Iran is attempting to influence the election to secure a more favorable political environment in Washington, potentially allowing them to pursue nuclear weapons. He suggested that the economic pressure on Tehran is becoming unsustainable.

While Trump anticipates a swift end to the hostilities and a subsequent sharp drop in oil prices, senior White House advisers, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, have reportedly warned in private discussions that the conflict could persist for years, potentially lasting until 2029.

The conflict, now in its seventh month, has seen significant military escalations. U.S. Central Command recently reported the destruction of five Iranian crude oil carriers in response to ballistic missile attacks targeting a U.S. Navy warship. Tensions remain high near the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran has reported attacks on approximately 10 vessels. These disruptions have contributed to Brent crude oil futures exceeding $100 per barrel for the first time since July.
