Trump Says Iran's Military Destroyed as US-Iran Ceasefire Collapses
President Donald Trump claimed that Iran’s military capabilities have been largely destroyed following renewed US‑Israeli strikes, stating that the country no longer has a navy, air force, or senior military leadership. He also asserted that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, is “90 percent gone,” though he offered no evidence.
Trump announced that the United States has resumed military operations against Iran after the collapse of a months‑long ceasefire, informing Congress of new strikes on Iranian targets. In response, Iran launched attacks on Bahrain and two tankers linked to the United Arab Emirates in the Strait of Hormuz, killing an Indian sailor and injuring eight others. The UAE warned of possible retaliation, raising concerns of a broader regional escalation.
The statements come amid heightened tensions over control of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly one‑fifth of global oil and gas supplies normally pass.
