Trump warns Iran of action if agreement not met, backs IAEA inspections
President Donald Trump said the United States will take "necessary action" if Iran does not honor the agreement reached in recent talks, adding that negotiations are proceeding "very smoothly." He emphasized that the frozen Iranian assets being released should be used solely to purchase U.S. farm products such as corn, wheat and soybeans, stating the money will ultimately benefit American farmers.
Trump also announced that Iran had informed the United States it would not impose tolls or insurance fees on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, warning that any false reporting would cause the peace talks to end immediately. In the same statements, he confirmed U.S. participation in International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities, while noting that the United States is not in a hurry to deploy inspectors.
Iran’s central bank disputed the claim about the use of the funds and denied plans to allow IAEA personnel entry, contradicting the U.S. narrative.
