TSE orders removal of PT video regarding Alfredo Gaspar

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has ordered the Workers' Party (PT) to remove a video from social media that associates vice-presidential candidate Alfredo Gaspar with the rape of a 13-year-old girl.

Justice André Mendonça ruled that while the video was framed as questions, the phrasing suggested a concrete possibility of the crimes occurring, thereby exceeding the limits of political criticism and becoming accusatory without sufficient factual support. The court ordered X and Meta to make the posts unavailable within 24 hours under penalty of a daily fine.

Although allegations regarding Gaspar have been raised previously in other political contexts, Mendonça stated that the existence of public accusations or requests for investigation is not enough to justify the manner in which the episode was presented in electoral propaganda.
