TSE validates 11 presidential slates for Brazil's 2026 elections
The Brazilian Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has validated 11 presidential slates for the 2026 general elections. Recent approvals include the tickets of Renan Santos and Aroldo Medina (Missão), Clariana Barão and Fabiana Torquato (Democracia Cristã), and Wilson Grassi and Suêd Haidar (Democrata). Other confirmed candidates include Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Flávio Bolsonaro, Romeu Zema, Ronaldo Caiado, and Rui Costa Pimenta, among others.
Two presidential registration requests remain under analysis: Augusto Cury and Júlio Delgado (Avante), and Pablo Marçal and Leonardo Avalanche (PRTB). The case of Pablo Marçal is noted for its complexity, as he faces ongoing legal scrutiny regarding his previous campaign conduct.
In separate electoral rulings, the TSE overturned the removal of the mayor and vice-mayor of Porto da Folha (SE) regarding misuse of communication media. Additionally, the court upheld a decision requiring Cuiabá Mayor Abílio Brunini to return R$ 465,917 to the public treasury due to campaign finance irregularities. In Alagoas, the TRE/AL maintained the annulment of PSB votes in Porto Real do Colégio following a gender quota fraud investigation.
