TSV 1860 Munich dropped to Regionalliga, Völler donates, players leave

The TSV 1860 Munich failed to obtain a licence for the 3. Liga and will compete in the Regionalliga Bayern for the 2026/27 season, ending its run in professional football. Fans have launched a donation campaign called "Freedom for Sixty" to raise funds for the club after investor Hasan Ismaik declined a €2.7 million loan. DFB president Rudi Völler announced he will contribute to the drive and said, "Ich bin auf jeden Fall dabei. Und ich werde auch Julian Nagelsmann überreden, dass er dabei ist." He hopes his support will help the club’s empty accounts.

Following the forced relegation, several players have become free agents. Top scorer Sigurd Haugen (16 goals, four assists) is linked with a move to 1. FC Nürnberg and is reportedly undergoing a medical exam there. Defender Sean Dulic is also free and has attracted interest from clubs such as FC Augsburg, Hamburger SV, Schalke 04 and VfL Bochum. Other planned transfers, like Julian Guttau’s return, fell through because of the club’s drop to the fourth tier.
