TSV 1860 Munich rebuild: fan rally and season start
Entities: Hasan Ismaik · Alper Kayabunar · 1. FC Schweinfurt · TSV 1860 München · Lukas Hradecky
Overview
After the German federation denied TSV 1860 Munich a licence for 2026‑27, the club entered insolvency, was relegated to the Regionalliga Bayern and began a rebuild under interim administrator control. A provisional administrator covered wages while supporters launched a jersey‑sponsor fundraiser. The newly formed Spielbetriebs‑GmbH secured a €0.5 million lease on the Grünwalder Stadion for the 2026/27 amateur campaign. A white interim kit produced by Societas debuted on 17 July, replacing the traditional lion emblem with the historic football‑department crest filed with the Bavarian FA, a temporary measure in the trademark dispute with former investor Hasan Ismaik. Alper Kayabunar was appointed head coach and veteran Florian Niederlechner named captain. New signings included midfielder Michael Eberwein (until 2028) and defender Mark Gevorgyan (until 2028); striker Arian Ortivero Calderon entered preseason in prolific form.
On 30 July the club unveiled a new logo – the historic oval FA crest – and a three‑year kit partnership with local brand Societas, producing light‑blue and white striped home shirts bearing the slogan “FOOTBALL FOR THE PEOPLE.” A crowdfunding effort raised over €250,000 for the slogan, and roughly 4,000 supporters travelled to Schweinfurt, turning the away game into a de‑facto home atmosphere, praised by coach Kayabunar and president Gernot Mang.
The Regionalliga Bayern campaign opened on 1 August with a 2‑2 draw against 1 FC Schweinfurt before 7,567 spectators. Michael Eberwein equalised in the 34th minute, and captain Dennis Dressel led the side. The new kits omitted the lion emblem and player names due to the ongoing trademark dispute with Ismaik, displaying only “TSV München von 1860 e. V.” on the shirts. Kayabunar, confirmed as permanent head coach, called the result encouraging given the limited preparation of the largely newly assembled squad.
