TSV 1860 Munich tops 3. Liga away‑fan attendance record

TSV 1860 Munich was named the 3. Liga "Auswärtsfahrer‑Meister" for the 2025/26 season, recording an average of 2,467 travelling supporters per away match. The club set a season record with around 6,500 fans attending the away game in Ingolstadt on 13 December. Hansa Rostock finished second with an average 2,428 fans, while several other clubs recorded much lower away attendance.

The strong travelling fan base comes amid ongoing discussions about club licensing and the German football governance model. In 2002, 1860 Munich spun off its professional football department into a separate joint‑stock company, a structure required by the DFB’s 50 + 1 rule that mandates majority voting rights remain with the parent club. The rule, currently under review by the Bundeskartellamt, aims to limit investor control of German clubs while allowing exceptions for clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Wolfsburg.
