Tuanku Muhriz remains Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan

The Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) of Negeri Sembilan has reaffirmed that Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir remains the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan. DKU Secretary Raja Norazli Raja Nordin stated that Tuanku Muhriz was elected by the Undang and proclaimed as the 11th Yang Dipertuan Besar on December 29, 2008, in accordance with the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution 1959.

Raja Norazli clarified that there is no vacancy in the position, as the legal requirements for the office to become vacant—such as a formal request for the ruler to step down or abdicate following a full investigation by the Undang—have not been met. The DKU does not recognize any other individual as holding the position.

Additionally, the DKU denied allegations of interference by Tuanku Muhriz regarding the affairs of Luak Sungei Ujong. The Council maintained that the ruler did not intervene in the dismissal of the Undang of Luak Sungei Ujong, but rather accepted the decision made by the Luak's representatives according to local custom. The DKU emphasized that the power to appoint or dismiss an Undang rests with the Luak itself.
