Poland health authorities manage tuberculosis and salmonella outbreaks

Public health authorities in Poland are managing several localized health incidents. In Warsaw, a tuberculosis outbreak was identified at a preschool in the Białołęka district. One employee was diagnosed with infectious tuberculosis, one child with non-infectious tuberculosis, and three others were found to have latent infections. The facility has undergone disinfection and will remain closed until the end of the summer holidays to prevent further spread.

In the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, a rehabilitation center in Międzywodzie reported a foodborne illness outbreak. Laboratory tests confirmed salmonella in 15 individuals and the presence of rotaviruses. While 53 people initially showed symptoms, the number of active cases has decreased, and no hospitalizations were required. Water and food samples from the facility tested normal.

Additionally, the State Sanitary Inspection released a report following over 1,100 inspections of hospital catering units. The audit revealed various irregularities, including improper food storage, the use of expired ingredients, and inadequate hygiene standards in production areas.
