Tuen Mun Road Flooding During Hong Kong Red Rainstorm

A red rainstorm warning was issued for Hong Kong on 31 May, prompting heavy rain and flash flooding. Water accumulated on Tuen Mun Road near Tai Lam, splashing onto buses and entering a vehicle’s interior before the road and surrounding areas were cleared.

The Drainage Services Department logged three flooding incidents that day – on South Island, Tuen Mun Road (near Tai Lam) and Pok Fu Lam Road – and dispatched over 90 emergency teams. All locations were cleared within one to two hours, and traffic flow returned to normal after the response crews completed their work.
