Tulsi Gabbard releases declassified documents alleging Fauci funded Wuhan lab research

Former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard disclosed nearly 400 pages of internal documents on June 19, 2026, shortly before leaving office. The files, posted on the ODNI website, allege that Dr. Anthony Fauci directed U.S. taxpayer money, routed through EcoHealth Alliance, to support gain‑of‑function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The documents suggest Fauci also influenced intelligence assessments to favor a natural‑origin explanation for COVID‑19, contradicting his June 2024 congressional testimony. They reference a whistle‑blower complaint about false statements and describe intimidation of officials who supported the lab‑leak hypothesis. Senator Rand Paul has subpoenaed Fauci and called for further investigation. The release has sparked debate, with some media outlets noting the redacted material does not conclusively prove the claims.
