Tun Siti Hasmah's grave continues to draw public tributes
Public tributes continue at the Pusara Negara in Putrajaya for Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, the wife of former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, who passed away at the age of 100.
Visitors have been arriving at the national cemetery as early as 7:00 AM to offer prayers, such as reciting Surah Yasin, and to pay their respects. The cemetery remains a focal point for the public, with visitors staying until the gates close at 10:00 PM.
Prior to her burial, the funeral prayers were held at Masjid As-Syarif in Taman Sungai Besi Indah, a location with which she had a close connection as an active congregant for approximately five years. The mosque's leadership noted her frequent attendance at religious programs and her history of providing donations to the mosque.
Reflecting her widespread recognition, some younger visitors expressed that they first learned of her through her appearance as a character in the popular animation series ‘Upin & Ipin’.
