Tuna Tunca completes fourth leg of Ocean’s Seven in Catalina Channel
Turkish ultra marathon swimmer Tuna Tunca has successfully completed the Catalina Channel, marking the fourth leg of the prestigious Ocean’s Seven challenge. The 35-kilometer swim spanned from Santa Catalina Island to Los Angeles.
During the crossing, Tunca faced significant environmental obstacles, including darkness, high waves, and massive kelp seaweed reaching up to 50 meters in height. Despite these conditions, he completed the channel in 11 hours, 3 minutes, and 20 seconds, reaching Smuggler’s Cove.
This achievement follows his previous successful crossings of the English Channel, the Strait of Gibraltar, and the North Channel. If Tunca completes the remaining three legs—the Molokai Channel, Tsugaru Strait, and Cook Strait—he will become only the second Turkish athlete to finish the Ocean’s Seven series.
