Tuna Tunca targets Catalina Channel swim in the United States

Tuna Tunca, a national ultra marathon swimmer with autism representing the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, is preparing to swim the Catalina Channel in the United States.

The attempt is part of the Ocean's 7 series, a collection of the world's most challenging open-water channel crossings. This upcoming swim marks the fourth leg of the series. If successful, Tunca will have completed the English Channel, the Strait of Gibraltar, and the North Channel.

Scheduled for September 1-2, the swim will cover approximately 34 kilometers between Santa Catalina Island and the coast of Los Angeles, provided weather and sea conditions are favorable. Tunca will participate in a night swimming camp in the U.S. to prepare for the channel's difficult conditions. His remaining goals in the Ocean's 7 series include the Molokai Channel, Cook Strait, and Tsugaru Strait.
