Tunindex Surpasses 21,500 Points, Setting New Record on Tunis Stock Exchange
The Tunindex benchmark on the Tunis Stock Exchange reached a new high of 21,552.73 points during the week of 13‑17 July 2026, marking a 6.9 % weekly gain and a year‑to‑date increase of 60.2 %. Trading volume surged to 92.4 million dinars, with an average of 18.5 million dinars per day, an unprecedented level for the summer period.
The rally follows a broader macroeconomic backdrop of monetary easing by the Central Bank of Tunisia, which lowered its policy rate to 7 % by late 2025. This, together with a Fitch Ratings upgrade of Tunisia’s sovereign rating from CCC+ to B‑, has boosted investor confidence and redirected savings toward equities despite the market’s liquidity constraints. Leading gainers included ATLs, BNA, and AMEN BANK, while some stocks such as SOMOCER and ASSAD lagged.
Analysts note that the market’s strong performance reflects both improved macro fundamentals and heightened appetite for risk assets, even as the exchange remains relatively illiquid and sensitive to movements in a few dominant stocks.
