Tunis-Carthage Airport: Three Women Sentenced to Up to 30 Years for Cocaine Trafficking

Tunisia's criminal chamber of the Tribunal de première instance de Tunis sentenced three women to prison terms ranging from 20 to 30 years after they were caught attempting to smuggle more than four kilograms of cocaine through Tunis-Carthage International Airport. The women were intercepted by airport security and customs officials while the drugs were concealed under their clothing. They were convicted of forming a criminal association for the purpose of importing and trafficking narcotics. The case is presented as part of ongoing efforts by Tunisian security and customs services to combat drug‑trafficking networks operating at border entry points, especially airports.
