Tunisia conducts SAFE SEA 26 naval exercise to bolster maritime security

Tunisia is conducting the third edition of the ‘SAFE SEA 26’ joint naval exercise in the Gulf of Tunis from October 26 to 30. Organized by the National Navy, the maneuvers aim to strengthen maritime security, improve coordination between national agencies, and enhance operational readiness for various sea-based emergencies.

National Defense Minister Khaled Sehili attended demonstrations at the La Goulette naval base, noting that the exercise evaluates capabilities regarding illicit maritime activities, maritime accidents, pollution risks, and search and rescue operations. The program also includes aerial medical evacuations, the protection of underwater cultural heritage, and the securing of commercial vessels against threats.

The exercise involves multiple national entities, including the National Guard, Customs, Civil Protection, the National Environmental Protection Agency, and the National Heritage Institute. International observers from countries including the United States, France, Germany, Egypt, and Algeria are also present to monitor the operations.
