The Tunisian Ministry of Defense announced the third edition of the ‘SAFE SEA 26’ joint naval exercise, scheduled to take place in the Gulf of Tunis. The drills were designed to assess the operational readiness of various maritime entities and improve coordination during law enforcement operations, maritime accidents, or security risks.

Participants in the exercise included the Tunisian Navy, National Guard, Customs, Civil Protection, the National Agency for Environmental Protection, the Strategic Health Operations Center, and the National Heritage Institute. Training activities focused on maritime search and rescue, pollution control, protecting commercial vessels, and safeguarding submerged cultural heritage.

During the exercise, which ran from October 26 to 30, National Defense Minister Khaled Sehili attended demonstrations at the La Goulette naval base. The maneuvers included aerial medical evacuations and evaluations of capabilities regarding illicit maritime activities. International observers from the United States, France, Germany, Egypt, and Algeria were present to monitor the operations.
