Tunisia inaugurates locally manufactured military patrol vessel
President Kaïs Saïed inaugurated a military patrol vessel manufactured entirely in Tunisia at the main naval base in Bizerte. The ceremony took place on October 15, 2026, coinciding with the 63rd anniversary of the Evacuation Day.
The vessel was developed and assembled by Tunisian engineers and technicians, representing a strategic milestone in the country's efforts toward defense industry autonomy and security self-sufficiency. During the event, President Saïed highlighted that despite technical and material obstacles encountered during construction, the project succeeded due to national expertise and determination.
Saïed indicated that this achievement serves as a foundation for future projects involving the production of other advanced military equipment. The inauguration was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Minister of National Defense and members of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.
