Tunisia introduces compulsory study‑skills course and expands licence programmes for 2026‑27 university year

The Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced that a new compulsory subject called “Study Skills” will be taught to all licence students starting in the 2026‑27 academic year. The measure is part of the strategic “Savoir Agir” project and aims to improve students’ learning methodologies, language abilities and soft‑skill competencies, addressing high dropout rates and employability gaps.

In the same reform, the ministry will add new licence tracks, raising the total number of programmes to 1,190, up from about 1,130. Public and private higher‑education institutions submitted 1,904 programme proposals (1,328 public, 576 private). The new offerings are intended to accommodate roughly 85,000 students, replace licences whose accreditation expires in 2025‑26, and better align curricula with market needs through interdisciplinary and co‑degree options.
