Tunisia launches industrial digital and sustainability programs
Tunisia has launched new initiatives aimed at advancing industrial sustainability and digital transformation. The “Smart Sustainable Infrastructures” project, part of the “CréAfrique 2.0” program, began on October 2, 2026, in Tunis. This project seeks to connect companies, startups, and researchers to address sustainability challenges. It plans to evaluate the corporate social responsibility (CSR) maturity of over 100 Tunisian companies through a regional caravan visiting 12 cities, including Bizerte, Sousse, Sfax, and Gabès. The initiative will also establish the “UGC Innovation Lab” to allow experts and students to develop and prototype solutions for identified industrial problems.
In a parallel effort, a new program titled “Towards Industry 4.0 in Tunisia” has been launched to support the technological transition of local businesses. Supported by the European Union and the German cooperation agency GIZ, the program aims to increase competitiveness in line with national 2035 strategic goals. To facilitate this, the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation developed “Tima” (Tunisian Intelligent Manufacturing Assessment), a tool designed to evaluate the digital maturity of companies. This allows for more targeted investments and support based on specific industrial needs.
