Tunisian industrial and mining modernization

Tunisia is implementing strategic initiatives to modernize its industrial and mining sectors, focusing on global competitiveness and digital transformation. The government has expressed ambitions to regain leadership in the global phosphate market by coordinating stakeholders, advancing mining research, and offering incentives to private investors.

To support the National Strategy for Industry and Innovation 2035, Tunisia has introduced several programs aimed at technological and sustainable advancement. In partnership with the European Union and GIZ, the country launched the ‘Label I4.0’ and the ‘Tunisian Intelligent Manufacturing Assessment’ (TIMA) tool to help companies evaluate and transition toward automated, digital production models.

Further efforts include the ‘Smart Sustainable Infrastructures’ project under the ‘CréAfrique 2.0’ program, which aims to connect researchers and startups to address sustainability challenges. This initiative includes evaluating the corporate social responsibility maturity of over 100 companies and establishing the ‘UGC Innovation Lab’ to prototype solutions for industrial problems.
