Tunisia launches zero‑interest honor loans for citizens and SMEs

Tunisia has introduced a zero‑interest honor loan scheme under law No 41 of 2024 and decree No 148 of 2026. The program offers interest‑free credit of up to 5,000 dinars to individuals, 10,000 dinars to micro‑project entrepreneurs and 25,000 dinars to small and medium‑size enterprises or community societies. Commercial banks are required to allocate at least 8 % of their 2025 net profits to fund these lines and may not demand collateral.

A model application form is already circulating, although the detailed eligibility criteria and required documentation have not yet been published. Loans are to be repaid over two years with a six‑month grace period. The initiative aims to improve access to financing for citizens and small‑scale initiatives in a credit‑constrained environment.
