Hundreds of people gathered in Tunis on Saturday to protest the detention of four Global Sumud Flotilla activists. The demonstrators marched from the Tunisian National Journalists’ Union headquarters to Avenue Habib Bourguiba, carrying Tunisian and Palestinian flags to demand the release of Wael Naouar, Ghassen Henchiri, Ghassen Boughdiri, and Nabil Channoufi.

The activists have been held since March under investigation for alleged financial irregularities and money laundering related to fundraising for the humanitarian flotilla. A court recently extended their pre-trial detention for an additional four months. While authorities cite financial misconduct, the detainees and their legal teams deny all wrongdoing.

Concerns are mounting over the activists' health, as Wael Naouar has been on an open-ended hunger strike since August 16. Supporters and human rights organizations, including the Tunisian League for Human Rights, have characterized the case as politically motivated, describing the detainees as prisoners of conscience and part of a broader crackdown on civil society and political dissent.
