Tunisia rolls out rental‑purchase housing scheme for low‑income families

Minister of Equipment and Habitat Salah Zouari inaugurated the first rental‑purchase project of the Société Nationale Immobilière de Tunisie Centre (SNIT‑Centre) in the Rimel residence, Hached district of Sousse. The development will deliver 14 collective apartments for low‑ and middle‑income households at a total cost of 2.6 million dinars, with construction slated for 400 days and hand‑over before the summer of 2027.

Zouari also outlined a nationwide rental‑accession programme that will make state‑owned land available for a symbolic price of one dinar and provide interest‑free (0 %) financing through a special fund. A digital platform will open for applications once projects reach 80 % completion, automating selection and ensuring transparency. The scheme aims to reduce housing costs for eligible families, with repayments recycled into new housing projects. Governor Sofiane Tanfouri highlighted regional coordination to create a land fund supporting the initiative.
