Tunisia Sets Record for 2026 Abitur with 156,465 Candidates

The Tunisian Ministry of Education announced that 156,465 candidates will sit for the 2026 Abitur, the national secondary-school leaving exam. The youngest candidate is a 16‑year‑old taking mathematics, while the oldest is a 75‑year‑old competing in the sport track. Exams run from 3 June to 10 June with results expected on 23 June and a supplementary session in late June and early July.

The ministry detailed logistical preparations, deploying 598 written‑exam centers, 32 correction centers and numerous distribution hubs. Over 135,000 staff are involved in organizing the event, and nearly twenty million pages of exam materials will be printed. Strict rules ban mobile phones, smartwatches, smart glasses and any electronic devices in testing rooms; possession of a prohibited device before the exam can be voluntarily surrendered, but any breach during the exam triggers immediate sanctions.
