Tunisia strengthens regional ties with Egypt and Libya

Tunisia is actively strengthening its diplomatic and economic ties with neighboring Egypt and Libya.

In Cairo, Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti met with Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty to consolidate strategic and economic partnerships. The leaders committed to increasing trade volumes, facilitating the movement of national products, and exploring joint investment opportunities. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation (ATCT) and its Egyptian equivalent to establish a South-South cooperation framework for Arab and African nations. Additionally, the ministers discussed regional issues ahead of the Arab League ministerial meeting.

Separately, Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed held a telephone discussion with Mohamed el-Menfi, President of the Libyan Presidential Council. The leaders emphasized the inseparable nature of security and stability between the two nations. They pledged to intensify consultations to remove obstacles regarding the movement of people and goods at border crossings to stimulate bilateral trade and economic ties.
